The Future of Islamic Self Help

We are at a crucial crossroads at Islamic Self Help. For 12 years, Islamic Self help has provided beneficial resources to thousands of students through our articles, videos, courses, and books. A lot of the work we produced was distributed free or at a low price to reach as many people as possible, often running at a loss. We have no reached a point where we need to stabilize the platform and make it financially sustainable. To do this, we need 300 more supporters to join our paid membership program. Sign up here.

Q: How many supporters does Islamic Self Help need and why?

A: To attain sustainability, Islamic Self Help needs $6000 a month to cover running costs, production costs, and a salary for our main teacher. 400 supporters will help us reach this goal easily. Alternatively, 120 premium subscribers or 850 basic subscribers, or any combination of the above will assist us in reaching our goal. The costs of running an e-learning platform have grown in the past few years, as has the cost of living globally. To continue running efficiently, we need to reach a sustainable number of members soon. Become a supporter today.

Q: What will I get out of a membership to Islamic Self Help?

A: Our courses are designed for weekly ongoing personal growth. You will gain access to a platform that gives you ongoing spiritual enrichment and growth through consistent authentic Islamic classes taught by a passionate teacher. Besides access to all our current courses and ebooks, you will also receive early access to any future ebooks and courses at no additional cost. More importantly, you will share in the reward of making this platform sustainable so that it continues to reach and benefit as many people as possible.

Q: What projects are the future at Islamic Self Help?

A: In January 2026, we initiated our biggest project yet, Tafsir Intensive. Tafsir Intensive is an ongoing weekly Tafsir class aimed at covering the entire Qur’an over a multiyear period. It is exclusively available to paid members of the website. This project is our primary focus over the next few years, along with producing books based on the classes in this program.

Beyond Tafsir Intensive, we are currently developing online courses and books on the following topics: deep thinking, financial literacy, spiritual development, and Muslim History. Each of these will be released in due time once we secure funding to produce the final assets. Support our projects today.

Q: How many people benefit from the work at Islamic Self Help?

A: While our paid programs have reached between 100 to 2000 people, our free programs have a much wider reach. Our biggest success has been a tafsir ebook that has reached over 50’000 people. Overall, ebooks authored by Shaykh Ismail Kamdar have reached over 100’000 people over the past few years, while our courses have collectively reached and benefited over 10’000 people.

Q: How does Islamic Self Help assist the poor who cannot afford these products?

A: At Islamic Self Help, we rarely turn away anyone who needs access to Islamic knowledge. Over the years, thousands of people have reached out to us for discounts or free access to our courses. In most cases, we have granted them access in good will. We only reject such requests if we suspect a scam or misuse of our products. We will continue to grant free access to our courses and ebooks to whomever needs them, but we can only continue doing so if we reach a level of sustainability soon.

Q: Does Islamic Self Help accept Zakah money?

A: No! Our website is a business that produces educational resources. We are not Zakah-legible and strongly suggest sending your Zakah money to those in need.
